- I first read about The Geography of Bliss: One Grumps Search for the Happiest Place on Earth in USA Today’s winter books preview. I love travel and am often grumpy, so I immediately put the book on hold (I’m still second in the queue). This week, Eric Weiner (his last name probably explains his grumpiness) was a guest on The Colbert Report. Assuming Bliss benefits from the “Colbert Bump,” everyone will be reading it soon.
- Another book in the preview was The Book of Other People, and USA Today featured it again this week (unfortunately, my local library does not yet carry it). The book includes stories by Nick Hornby, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Zadie Smith (who also edited). If nothing else, the book could be a good introduction to several authors I’ve never read.
- People of the Book was reviewed again in Sunday’s New York Times Book Review.
- YALSA announced its 85 best books of 2007. Although I feel like I’m constantly reading YA novels, I’ve actually only read two titles on the list. That means 83 books go on my to read list.
