• Ron Paul’s book The Revolution is currently #1 on Amazon’s bestsellers list. Did he appear on Oprah without me hearing about it?

• Both Barnes & Noble and Borders sent me ads this week for Augusten Burroughs’s latest, A Wolf at the Table. His previous memoir is the bestselling Running with Scissors. USA Today likes the book. The New York Times not so much.

• Diane Rhem recently interviewed Joanne Harris about her new novel The Girl with No Shadow, a sequel to her bestselling Chocolat. USA Today calls the book “darkly delightful.”

• Los Angeles Times awarded its 2007 Book Prizes this week. I’ve got to get my hands on Simon Sebag Montefiore’s Young Stalin.

• List-lovers can check out Booklist’s “The Year’s Best Crime Novels: 2008” and the Telegraph’s “50 best cult books.” I’m definitely not a crime novel fan, and I must not be a cult fan, either, because I’ve only read three from the list.

• My crush, Fareed Zakaria, appeared on NPR’s All Things Considered this week to promote his latest book, The Post-American World, out Tuesday. There’s just something so sexy about the decline of American imperialism.
